Medical Student Exercise Prescription Booklet
The Chief Medical Officer UK guidelines on physical activity suggest that adults should be active to a moderate intensity for at least 150 minutes per week. The weight of evidence which suggests that physical inactivity is harmful to health and that physical activity is beneficial to the treatment of a range of medical conditions is rapidly expanding.
The promotion of physical activity for health, to patients of all ages, is something which everyone involved in healthcare can contribute.
This series of cases, Exercise Prescription in Health and Disease, has been written by 16 consultants, doctors and experts, including Fellows and Members of the FSEM (UK), and has been edited by Dr Patrick O’Halloran and Dr Gurjit Bhogal. We hope you find it is a useful learning tool.
