BASEM & FSEM: You’ve Had Your Say
On 18th May, members of BASEM and FSEM voted on the future of our two organisations and how we might best work together to further the SEM agenda in the UK. Both FSEM and BASEM voted at our respective General Meetings, and we had an overwhelmingly positive result, with over 93% of members of both organisations voting in favour of reforming as a college.
This is a great mandate to take forward and we are delighted with these results which means that BASEM and FSEM will now work towards reforming as a single organisation.
Following this outcome, senior leadership teams from BASEM and FSEM will be meeting shortly to identify the next steps. This will include appointing an external organisation specialising in charity mergers to oversee the process. We anticipate updating our memberships with more details in the autumn.
For clarification, we can confirm that currently both BASEM and FSEM still exist as separate entities and will continue to operate as usual, providing our members with their usual services and benefits. The transfer to the new organisation will only occur once due diligence has been completed to the satisfaction of both parties.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to bringing us to this stage. We are excited to move forwards together to further the impact of SEM in the UK.
